Through the award of lottery funding we are able to roll-out out Clock Cricket delivery in 20 different locations across Hertfordshire for the next 12 months.
We are extremely grateful to the 'Awards For All' team to grant the funding to enable physical activity on a monthly basis to over 500 older people, some of whom, live with dementia, for the next year!
We are very excited to be working in partnership with Essex County Council as part of their 'Year of Numbers ' campaign. We are also very excited to be working alongside Essex County Cricket Club in delivering the 'Cricket 4 Numbers' initiative as part of that Year of Numbers programme.
Using Clock Cricket as our vehicle, we have identified over 30 care homes in Essex who have teamed up with local schools that have enabled us to start delivering inter-generational seated cricket sessions within the care home environment.
The school children visit the homes and whilst there we deliver seated cricket whereby the children actively take part and at the same time, to enable them to use their numeracy skills, they keep a check of the scores and operate the portable scoreboard too!
Creating an opportunity for the children to partake in simple math sums whilst under a small amount of time pressure (before the next ball is bowled!) allows them to think hard, on their feet, but in a fun and imaginative way.
We are delighted to be working with the Aneurin Bevan Health Board at St Woolos Hospital in South Wales.
Using clock cricket as a light form of exercise is helping patients recovering from Stroke and other neurological conditions during their journeys of recovery.
We are very proud that our seated format of cricket can be used in this way
Clock Cricket are very excited to be delivering a twelve month clock cricket program across the AFFC group and delivery will take place in Harlow, Epping, Great Dunmow, and Saffron Walden.
AFFC run dementia support groups which include lunch and activities. We will be delivering monthly sessions at each of the AFFC sites starting in November.
The groups enable carers to leave their loved ones in a safe and friendly environments so that they can have respite for several hours.
We are massively thankful to Active Essex in helping to ensure these sessions can take place.
